Most unique gift.....a big Japanese urn that looks like it would hold someone's ashes. My mother-in-law moves it out into view every time she comes to visit.

For a wedding gift from my husband's friend, we received two actual teddy bears that were dipped in scented wax and then dressed as the bride and groom. They are beautiful and keep their scent for a long time.

Honestly I cannot think of anything! I have always gotten pretty vanilla gifts.
A few years back my daughter hand painted a double photo frame. On one side she put a picture of herself and on the other side she put a handwritten poem about mother's day.
A toilet seat . We needed one and it happened to be by my birthday.

I got a really cool coffee mug from my sister one year. It was from starbucks, and was really neat. It was a french press mug, you could make coffee or tea in it and take it to go.
